There are three basic types of weft hair, which are usually available in synthetic or human: machine weft hair, hand-tied weft hair and skin weft hair. For the most cost-efficient, yet real look, machine weft hair is most common with human hair. This technique of extensions, also called weaving, provides an easy-to-wear, natural look with longevity and versatility for hairstyling.

How To Sew In Instructions…

1. Part and braid dry, clean hair neatly in small, close cornrows (either circular or straight back, depending on preference and style).

2. Liberally moisturize the scalp in between braids. This will help prevent your natural hair from drying out when extensions are applied.

3. Pin the ends of the braids down as flatly as possible to create a full base for sewing the weft (also called track) to your hair.

4. Measure the weft against the braid for the amount of width needed and cut. Begin measuring at the nape of the neck.

5. Place the weft on top of the braid and anchor with the unused hand.

6. Put the needle through the braid and weft and pull until secured.

7. Repeat the loop through the braid and weft until entire row is complete and cut off any excess hair at the end of row.

8. Sew (cross stitch) the end of the weft to avoid lifting, cut the thread and double knot to secure the end.

9. Continue until all braids have been attached with extensions and layered to desired thickness.

10. Arrange loose, natural hair to lay over visible wefts for closure.

11. Moisturize the hair and spray lightly with gloss or sheen.

12. Flat-iron natural hair straight and comb together to blend with the weft hair.

13. Cut and layer extensions to desired length and fullness and curl with the curling iron.

Matt Damon Shaved His Head

Hollywood hottie Matt Damon recently shaved his head for his role in Elysium. I gotta say, I don’t hate it. Once the “freshly shaved head” tan line dissipates, I think he might even look pretty hot without hair.

Cosmoprof Trend #5 Eco-Favs, Still Struggling to Get Attention

Cosmoprof Trend #5 Eco-Favs – Still Struggling to Get Attention I am a die heart Eco Organic user of all products.  I love the all-natural products as you all know.  At Cosmoprof I saw a handful of Organic/All-Natural product companies trying to introduce their pure products but for some reason this category is a difficult one.  Even larger companies like Zotos International, a leading manufacturer in hair care products, is launching their Pure natural lines.  Will they get the fan fare?  Is Organic and All-Natural really mainstream.  Only time will tell.   Maybe soon this category will grow and women will ask for it.  I can say post show that it still maybe a little while.

I Love My Shower Filter!

My shower filter , by far, is one of the BEST things I’ve purchased for my hair this year! It was everything my hair was looking for and needing (check this post to read about my hard water issues ). For my first use, I made sure I used my clarifying shampoo so that all the buildup (mineral deposits) from previous wash days wouldn’t inhibit my results and how my hair would react to the water. After my initial use, I instantly felt the difference in my hair while wet and while I was air drying
